As many of you reading this know, I’ve been studying Improv with Shannon Winpenny since April through her “Fundamentals of Improv” program.
Winpenny, a local girl who made it big on the National Improv Scene in Chicago with Second City and Improv Olympics, returned home earlier this year and along with gal pal Kim Potter opened her Fundamentals of Improv school as well as Laughtrack Theater, Hawai’i’s first full-time venue dedicated to the teaching and performance of Improv in our community.
After months of preparation Laughtrack Theater will open its doors this Friday, September 5 with two performances at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The first graduating class of the Fundamentals of Improv program (newly minted on August 20, 2008) will make its stage debut. Also performing are Casual Threat, Winpenny’s own troupe along with local Improv gurus Rob Bonnell and R. Kevin Garcia Doyle. Repeat performances will take place Saturday night September 6.
